xXx2, State of the Union

Friday, April 29th, 2005 - 3:54 pm

Agent Augustus Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson), “We need a new xXx, more dangerous, more deadly, more attitude and not just a skateboard, sky-diving agent”. So, he turn to Darius Stone (singer turned actor Ice Cube), an erstwhile Navy SEAL wrongly court-martialed and imprisoned, replacing the previous xXx Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) who is supposed to be dead or he asked for a higher fee for the second movie that they killed him in the storyline.

We still have our gadget man, Toby Lee Shavers (Michael Roof) who helps Gibbons and Stone to save the president of the United States from an assassination attempt by the Secretary of Defense Gen. George Deckert (Willem Dafoe). You will like the movie if you are those who loves all blast, ear deafening explosions, car blast, speed chase. Ice Cube even repeated his drive-on-the-rail-line like he did in Torque, only this time with a half-a-million-dollar car that went 225 miles an hour, tore the rubber, drove on the metal rim and followed the bullet train on its track. They even introduced “tank jacking” for the first time.

Recently Laszlo Systems announced their flagship product OpenLaszlo 3.0. OpenLaszlo is an XML-native foundation for building Rich Internet Applications and technically falls straight as a competitor for Flex.

The good part about OpenLaszlo against Flex is that it is free. But again that may be a misnomer, if you look at their “cost of support (Technical Support …

Why not wait for few years; buy Adobe instead?

Monday, April 18th, 2005 - 11:24 am

Well, I have almost done away with most Adobe Products because there are already good (read better) Macromedia replacements. I have even learnt to use Fireworks pretty well, but that’s sure gonna go. The news is everywhere and my reaction is “Confused“, crossed fingers, bite nails and wait and watch for the road ahead.

But with the current growth of Macromedia, …

The Powered by Detroit, 2005 proved to be a good starting ground for me. Just like everybody else, I enjoyed the two days very much, met many people. The conference wasn’t a Flash oriented conference per se but even then, the responses were good. I liked the questions/answers part of my session more than than my actual …

Stay connected

Friday, April 8th, 2005 - 5:10 pm

It was not really a good day to start off. I woke up around 2 in the morning Detroit time may be because my biological clock was taking that time as some afternoon in Mumbai, India. I also found out that the Internet connection was not there in my room. I changed room at that hour to a “High Speed Internet enabled Room” ($10 per 24 hrs is a real good package). At day-break, I strolled out of the hotel and the air was cold with about 12°C, I was totally surprised. The last time I checked before leaving for Detroit’s Weather through ForecastFox was equally similar to Mumbai, so I was expecting a rather hot weather. I did not bring even a warmer cloth. And I think people like to live cold here, the default temperature in my room was about 21°C on both rooms I moved in (I had to adjust the room temperature to about 26°C).
