Long back, somebody forwarded me some photographs of a beautiful lady, Melissa Theuriau, a newscaster who presents LCI Matin. I kept them for the archives on my site. Very soon, I found out that the Photo Gallery was drinking bandwidth. I had to separate the Photos Gallery section from the main site and host it on another server, provided by MediumCube. The Photos Gallery currently serves roughly over 30GB /mo and I have stop looking at its statistics.
Coupla days back, I wanted to clean up my site’s mess and thus made the Downloads section available as I will no longer be making any more additions. Well, I was surprised when I saw the data transfer tonight, the main site alone (sans the Photos) have served over 55GB for this month (as on 22nd February, 2006). Media Temple capped a 75GB /mo data transfer limit for my site, I hope it stays within the limit till the month-end.
If this is the rate, the whole site might approach 100GB /mo of Data Transfer (atleast for this month)!
Update
I finally gave up on the care for my photos gallery and have shifted to Flickr. The reason is not of the cost but of the care that I have to take - Gallery is proving to be too resource intensive and my Virtual Dedicated server (cost me $85 /mo) is dying under its load. So, from now onwards, I will blame it on Flickr for my photos.

Hey, why don’t you use Flickr or similar online-services for photographs?

I do have a PRO Flickr Account. Well, I just like my personal things on my domain, controlled by me.
