everybody believes that the new player is apt to be a major version and not just a minor release.
easier to talk to clients and marketing folks

Oh well, like if most ppl even care to install a major release, let alone a “dot” release. :P
For me the “8.5″ tag has been a developer-only naming scheme from the beginning.
