I really wanted to thank, appreciate some people whom I have met and some whom I know online. I have been thinking about this and this is what I come up with - A Recommendation / Appreciation Baton.
THE IDEA
The idea is to follow a simple baton carrier mechanism to review or interview or recommend a person whom you know personally, or have met online, or have interacted for professional work, or have been a fan of his/her profession, or you just have a crush on him/her.
WHY?
The reasons can be
- just for fun
- to appreciate a person for his work
- to thank a person for his work towards the online community or the open source community
- to let others know more about the person and his/her work
- and much much more
LET’S FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE RULES
- include all or at lest the last 10 baton carriers, so everybody can follow back where it came from
- write at least a minimum of one Review/Recommendation
- pass the baton to whomever you may wish with a link back to your article or any baton carrier article so they know what to do
- include this few simple rules
Note:
- you can use either email or do word-of-mouth or Instant Messengers or a Social Networking site to carry the baton forward
- you can be in a loop and carry forward this Baton again and again, which means, you can write reviews, recommendations or even interviews in multiple articles over time
- don’t make it like a chain email forward, Review or write only if you feel like and feel that you really like to appreciate the person
This is from where you can carry the baton forward, you can follow the format below or modify it to make it better.
Here are my Recommendation, Reviews and Appreciation of the following people
Darshan Sawardekar
Lucky are those few who have seen Darshan Sawardekar, even luckier are those who have met, talked and mingled with him. A person who wants to hide literally from the Internet, defeat Google’s purpose of providing search result for all people on this planet. Your mouth will remain wide open and jaws dropped, if you listen to this guy’s wide and extensive knowledge about subjects he is interested in. He can give you the insights on topics you would be jealous to know and Flash is like the back of his palm. He is one person I will turn to without even a slight second thought if I have to ask anything in Flash. Well, the answer would be complete with why and how to use, what is the better and more optimized alternative. He is puritan and follows strict discipline in life and his work. My utmost respect for Darshan will remain till the end of time.
Arindam Biswas
One hell of a smart, clever, meticulous and the only person who knows how to calm me down in my business-development matters, Arindam Biswas is the one that help me started off Oinam Software Pvt. Ltd. The very first time we met at CrossRoads, Mumbai and when we discussed about few RIAs that he did, I knew I have to and will be working with this guy some day. It was not long that I told him to give up Kolkata and join me in Mumbai, of which he agreed and join me in our wild ideas and financial twisters. A highly competent server side programmer with special crush for ColdFusion, he is a developer, manager who can handle things with the coolness of a cucumber. He is a must-have person to be on your side.
Abdul Qabiz
A hacker, a thinker, an ideator, a superb developer and one hell of a smart flash developer, Abdul continues to surprise me with each new idea that he comes up with. His solutions to problems that looks daunting have always made me praise him many times and would continue to do so. He is one of those rare Flash Guru. Abdul Qabiz have worked with Macromedia, then of course Adobe and Yahoo! before agreeing to join Nanocast with my team.
Guy Watson aka Flash Guru
Honestly, it was his files that I downloaded during Flash 5 days to de-construct and study ActionScript. It has always been in my yearning to thank him for the great works he did and his dedication to the Flash Community. He currently runs his consulting firm under the name of FlashGuru Limited, a Flash consultancy based in the UK. He is a very nice person to be along with; and I will not hesitate to term him a Flash genius.
Colin Moock
You’d know him if you do Flash development. He is the famous author of the de-facto ActionScript books series - ActionScript: The Definitive Guide, Essential ActionScript 3.0. I won’t hesitate a bit recommending his books to anybody who want to be good with Flash ActionScript.
The following people are lined up for my upcoming review:
- Keyur Patel
- Om Malik
- Neil Patel
- Darren Rowse
