Hipster is the newest in line of popular brands that have developed new ideas to improve upon the social media mobile photo sharing in the local market scene. Hipster has developed an iPhone app for this purpose. The difference with this app is that it is geared towards sending in digital postcards.
Using the app is simple and is supposed to be fun. You take a snap and then log in to your Facebook or email account. The app has 10 custom filters for you to unleash your creativity through different fonts, styles and image filters. When satisfied with your digital postcard profile, you can post it online so your friends and acquaintances can check it out. New additions to the innovativeness include geographic location of the senders.
Therefore, you can edit in your current location information as well as put in details about what you are doing at that particular time. You can share these digital postcards on Facebook, Twitter and other popular social media profiles.

Android-powered based mobile phones are dominating the world of smartphones. Smartphones built on Windows OS are trying their level best to beat this trend. The lead in this direction was taken by Taiwan based mobile phone manufacturing company – HTC. HTC having many firsts to its credit has launched Windows based smartphones labeled HTC Titan and HTC Radar. These are launched in UK market loaded with Windows 7.5 OS. HTC had unveiled this line up in last August and made its way well ahead of global mobile phone manufacturing major, Nokia. We may expect similar range of phones from Nokia by the end of this year.
Millions of loyal iFans held their bated breath while waiting for the release of the much-anticipated iPhone 5, but unfortunately instead of breathing a sigh of relief their expelled air was used to form their favorite curse word as they gazed on the iPhone 4S. Son of a…
Apple surprised the world, and shocked the hell out of their users, by releasing the iPhone 4S, instead of the more-anticipated iPhone 5 — but this shouldn’t have been a surprise really. The release of the iPhone 4S falls right into the typical release pattern from Apple, which also happens to coincide with the product life-cycle created by cellphone carrier contracts — two years.
Autochrome – A minimal, photography WordPress theme with special attention to your photos. (source : Autochrome)
About a month ago, I got an email from Lance Willett of Automattic that they would be launching Nishita WordPress theme on WordPress.com. That was great news!
Honestly, I had not really been maintaining the theme though it turn out be a rather popular theme. The wordpress.com version was released sometime back – Nishita Theme on WordPress.com (theme showcase).
Nishita is a simple, minimally-styled photoblogging theme—now available for WordPress.com blogs. With a choice of dark or light color scheme, the muted design puts all the focus on your photos. Not only is this theme designed for photos, it loves big photos: the default layout is super-wide at 1024 pixels.
The new version is far better one. Lance and the team did some amazing work on it (demo).
Some of the salient features of the new Nishita Theme:
Theme options include two layout choices: “Photoblog” at 1024 pixels wide, or “Blog” at 768 pixels wide. The same form also allows choosing the dark or light color scheme.
Reduced Photoblog Look.
Thumbnail Archives: This photo-loving theme also uses post thumbnails to show a small version of images on your archive pages. Out of the box, the theme will crop the image attached to the post and make a thumbnail for you. If you prefer to crop your own thumbnail-or use a different image-use the Featured Image tool to set the alternate thumbnail image.
Widgets and Sidebar.
Customize Nishita even more with the custom background feature, a custom header image, and a custom menu.
Yet another Photography Theme – Autochrome
Meanwhile, I had been working on a much simpler, minimal Photography theme which focuses solely on your photos – Autochrome. It was in beta for all of its version ONE cycle and I even sold quite a lot while it was introduced at $9.99. Today, Autochrome is very stable and is bumped to v2.0.
Autochrome v2.0 is currently being sold for $25.00. Get yours →

Has hell indeed frozen-over? Quite possibly because Microsoft is giving itself a serious overhaul — get this — in response to market forces.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer recently announced that the Windows overhaul going on is mere foreshadowing of big changes to come from Microsoft as the companies aims to optimize all their software for new hardware form factors and cloud computing.
The large-scale makeover for Microsoft is beginning with their new Windows 8 user face, a drastic break from the traditional Windows theme and from the previous version, Windows 7. For windows 8 Microsoft will be going with the Metro UI interface currently found on Windows Phone instead of the Aero interface from Windows 7. This new change in the interface is Microsoft bending to market forces of tablets and phone hardware form figures, a significant change to the large-screened home PCs of yore. “If Windows 8 is Windows re-imagined, we’re also in the process, and Windows 8 is an important step of that, of remaining Microsoft,” Ballmer proclaimed in a keynote address at the BUILD developer conference.
If you are one of those with a cluttered mailbox and overstuffed folders with some of the drafts waiting to be sent and some mails awaiting a reply from you later, you are not to be blamed as we understand that having a clean tidy inbox is a rare sight. But you can now heave a sigh of relief and cheer. Boomerang for Gmail has arrived to conquer your inbox. It is a Firefox/Chrome plug-in exclusively meant for Gmail users which allows you to take control of when you send/receive your email messages. It will become a lot easier to manage the thousands of emails buried in your inbox, isn’t it?
First Google was after search engine domination, then world domination, and now? YOUR WALLET! But they’re not going to steal it — trust me, they don’t need the money. They want to replace it.
If the Google Wallet takes off, designers might take a hit on their wallet sales as wallets become digital and move to cellphones. Google’s new virtual wallet currently runs on solely the Sprint’s Nexus S, which runs on Android! The Nexus S got lucky being the Google Wallet poster child by being one of the few cellphones that runs a near-field communications chip (NFC). Google has ambitious plans to market the virtual-wallet app on all Android phones once the NFC chip becomes more readily used, and they are currently in development talks with all Android phone makers to make it happen, soon.
Amazon, which initially started as a online book store that shared exclusive non-fiction stories and other short stories, went on to sell CDs, DVDs, softwares, toys, video games, apparels, furniture and MP3 downloads.
Amazon is planning to launch a Netflix-like service which allows users to pay an annual fee so that they can get the book for rent. However, Amazon Prime, a premium membership service where the user pays $79 through which they speed up the process of shipping movies and TV shows is in the process of creating a digital library of older books that will be made available exclusively to them. They include aggressively paying off publishers and attaching of subscription plans to Amazon prime. Currently Amazon has planned to offer publishers a substantial fee which is greater than for what Apple pays for access to books. Attaching subscription plans simply attracts users to sign up for Amazon prime membership.
