Many a times, I came across articles that are good which I’d love to point others to it so they can be read and enjoyed. An Indian Newspaper buys a Social Networking site

Few hours back, Mint reported that Firefly eVentures Ltd, a wholly owned Internet subsidiary of Hindustan Times Media Ltd., has acquired social networking site – DesiMartini. Terms and exact price were not disclosed but is believed to be less than $10 million.
Brand new Logo of Adobe AIR

Mike Chambers posted an article introducing the brand new Adobe AIR Logo.
The latest design is supposedly the Final Logo. It may be noted that Adobe AIR has been pretty inconsistent as far as branding goes. It has had a number of logos and graphics associated with it, including the rocket-ship, and the current “AIR” branding.
Mike Chambers explains, “Part of this was due to the surprisingly complex process of designing and settling on a logo in the technology world. There have been quite a few times during the past year where we felt that we were close to having the final logo, only to then find out that it was just a bit too familiar to some other logo in the computer / internet / tech world.”
The Logo represents the three core Adobe web technologies – HTML, Flash and PDF. Each corner of the logo represents one of these core technologies. The vector versions of the Logo is also available for download – (zip).
Were-Here shuts down

Were-Here, which was once used to be a must-visit resource site for Flash and related developed, is shutting down. They are now concentrating on their software development rather than running the site.

Adobe names Shantanu Narayen as its new CEO

Adobe announced its Board of Directors has appointed current president and chief operating officer Shantanu Narayen as its president and chief executive officer, effective December 1, 2007.
Narayen replaces Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen, who will serve the remainder of his term on Adobe’s Board of Directors through the Spring of 2008 and continue in a strategic advisory capacity through the end of fiscal year 2008.

Venture Capitalist prefer investing in Startups to Stock Market

I was reading the Business & World section of the Hindustan Times and something caught my fancy – VCs prefer start-ups to stock market. The realm of VCs, Angel-funding, Startups is rather new in India and more importantly weird to most of the common Indian masses – be it IT, ITES, Programmers and budding entrepreneurs.
Many overseas Venture Capitalist and Non-resident Indian (including India returned Indians) have realized that investing in Indian start-ups would be far more rewarding than the country’s current booming stock market. This may, in a way, sound rather too optimistic with the fact that the Indian rupee is competing very well with the US Dollar at the moment (the US Dollar is lower than INR 40 at the time of writing this article).
