Silverlight 1.1 will be released as Silverlight 2.0 early 2008

Microsoft said that the next release of the “Silverlight 1.1 beta” is now being prepared for release as “Silverlight 2.0 beta” instead. It should be out somewhere in the first quarter of 2008.

At the top of the list of new features in the new Silverlight 2.0 beta is the ability to develop Silverlight applications using Visual Studio and the .NET Framework. Unlike Silverlight 1.0, which supports only JavaScript, developers will be able to use core development languages such as C# and Visual Basic.net for coding in Silverlight 2.0.

  1. LOL.

They are in a hurry to reach version 3.0, traditionally the first version of any MS product that doesn't completely suck.
