TemplateBrowser is pirating your Wordpress Themes

Templatesbrowser pirates open source free Wordpress Themes and adds a sneaky piece of code at the end of the file “functions.php” producing links to other sites which is invisible for human readers. They’ve also removed the author credits from most of the themes.

Few days back, I read 5thirtyOne reporting about TemplateBrowser re-distributing Wordpress Themes (and Joomla Templates) and adding malware links. Templates Browser have modified the public blog themes in such a way as to exploit the end user by inserting hidden spam or malware links and removing the Author credits.

Today, I saw Weblog Tools Collections warning us about the same and decided to check it out if my themes are there too.

In fact, most of the popular Wordpress Themes are listed there. Well, I found my Wordpress Theme a victim too. Visit my Original Brajeshwar Theme and here is their Pirated Version.

Other people who have reported about the piracy practice by TemplateBrowser:

WARNING: Do not download anything from TemplateBrowser.

  1. Guess the site is dead now. Everything throws a 404 error :)

  2. Yea, been reading a lot of this type of thing happening to theme developers.

  3. Hmmm, they seem to have changed folders or moved or something like that.

  4. Can’t the original authors do anything about that? It clearly violates their copyright.

  5. The site is dead now. I think those people are ashamed.

  6. That’s pretty awful. I wish people weren’t so disappointing sometimes.
